Stress is not a modern day phenomenon. It has been there since time immemorial. It is just that more emphasis has been given to it today. People have started to admit that it is a major factor that triggers fatal diseases.
The biggest question is ‘How does one overcome stress’? I somehow believe that the way to overcome stress is ‘through’ it…..one has to fight the triggers of stress every moment….some moments may be victorious some failures…let’s celebrate the victorious moments and move on
Let’s also understand that stress is not harmful. What is required is for the mind/body heart to be aware of the triggers of stress and regulate and redistribute life energies into action to eliminate those triggers. To imagine that there would be no stress if you exercise and engage in the love of sublime is seeking or trying to fulfill a desire which again would be stressful if not fulfilled. It’s not our enemy. It has to be observed, contemplated upon – while living – stressful lives or whatever.
‘stress’ is the present day most dangerous self acquired disease. It is a total mental sustainability of an individual how robust he is. Symptoms of stress begin when the mental sustainability ends.
Imagine the level of stress our Soldiers live in. The soldiers are used to physical exercises and uncongenial living conditions which make them mentally prepared to sustain to all kind of hardships. Working out is one of the remedy to destress.
When stressed, one should fight if one has energy, strength and potentials or just surrender and relax. For that one should have healthy habits and ability to positive thinking. One must know himself fully. You must be able analyse your own ‘SWOT‘ i.e. your strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. You have to accept certain facts and figures of yourself. You have demarcated your limit in each activity. It is always futile to overshoot.
If you have potentials to take a long jump to 10′ and if you wish to make it 12’, you have to practice to achieve the target but even then if cannot make it, you should accept the fact gracefully that it is your limit and it can be disastrous if you cross the limit. It applies everywhere whether it is money matter, love, business, promotions, career and other achievements. I don’t mean one should surrender. You must just keep trying to a certain limit but never beyond that. You can stretch the rubber to a certain extent but beyond that it breaks.
Not all stressful conditions can be blamed on the high competitive environment of modern day society. This is the only time in the history of mankind where we are equipped with enough resources to eliminate social issues like mal nutrition, pollution, over population, child labor etc. we’ve reached this stage in mankind only by working through the stressful conditions prevalent at certain periods in time.
